Home for The Holidays Thanksgiving Mitzvah
Each Thanksgiving morning a group of Touro Synagogue staff and members gathers at Delgado Community College kitchen to participate in the YMCA Thanksgiving Day food basket delivery program.
Provided with names, addresses, and google maps and directions they set out to their selected neighborhoods and bring hot meals to individuals who rely on home delivery services that do not operate on Thanksgiving. Thus providing the home-bound and handicapped their only hot meal on a day when most of us are blessed to enjoy a table fellowship with friends or family.
A truly worthy Mitzvah. Please consider joining us next year.
